Kirchengeschichte I: Von der Alten Kirche bis zum Hochmittelalter
Zusammenfassung
[Church History I: From the Early Church to the High Middle Ages] In eleven chapters, the volume familiarizes us with basic knowledge in the subject of church history up to the High Middle Ages, in a breadth appropriate to the content of a study of Protestant theology. A large arc is traced from the 2nd to the 13th century, that is, from the beginnings of the post-apostolic period to the influential doctrinal systems of Scholasticism. While this is long ago, it still remains influential for European Christianity – and to some extent in surprising ways. In this textbook, the focus is not on conveying an abundance of names, dates, and facts. Rather, what is important here is understanding connections and discovering that an engagement in church history can also contribute to a constructive treatment of the diversity of Christianity in a globalized world.
