Zusammenfassung
Der zweite Band der sechsbändigen Kirchheimer-Edition mit dem Titel Faschismus, Demokratie und Kapitalismus enthält 23 Schriften von Otto Kirchheimer (1905–1965), die zwischen 1933 und 1943 im Exil in Paris und New York entstanden sind. Kirchheimer wirkte in dieser Zeit am Institut für Sozialforschung in einer Phase der besonders »engen und produktiven« (Jürgen Habermas) interdisziplinären Zusammenarbeit der ebenfalls ins Exil gezwungenen Gruppe um Max Horkheimer. Das Werk handelt einerseits von den rechtlichen, sozialen, ökonomischen und politischen Zuständen im nationalsozialistischen Deutschland: Hier finden sich mittlerweile als klassisch angesehene Analysen Kirchheimers zum NS-Regime wie auch bislang unveröffentlichte Arbeiten zum Antisemitismus und zur Wirtschaftsordnung. Zum anderen versammelt der Band Kirchheimers Arbeiten zu damals aktuellen Problemen des parlamentarischen Regierens in Frankreich und den USA. Eine umfangreiche Einleitung schildert die Lebensstationen Kirchheimers nach seiner Flucht aus Deutschland und erläutert den Kontext der aufgenommenen Beiträge.
