Für Rezipienten ist die Glaubwürdigkeit von Quellen für die Einschätzung medial vermittelter wissenschaftlicher Erkenntnisse besonders wichtig. Neben sichtbaren Akteuren ist der Off-Sprecher eine der typischen Informationsquellen in TV-Wissenschaftsmagazinen. Er stellt ebenfalls argumentativ Evidenz für wissenschaftliche Erkenntnisse bereit. Vom Journalisten können die Argumentationen der Quellen sowohl einseitig als auch kontrovers dargestellt werden. In dieser Studie wird in einem Rezeptionsexperiment (N = 120) mittels eines neu-vertonten Beitrags zur Nanotherapie aus einem TV-Wissenschaftsmagazin untersucht, wieviel Glaubwürdigkeit dem Off-Sprecher im Vergleich zu den Quellen Experte und Fallbeispiel zugesprochen wird und welchen Einfluss eine kontroverse Argumentation des Off-Sprechers auf die Glaubwürdigkeitseinschätzungen der anderen Quellen hat. Im Ergebnis wird der sichtbaren Quelle Experte am meisten Glaubwürdigkeit zugeschrieben. Wird der Off-Sprecher in seiner Argumentation kontrovers zu anderen Evidenzquellen dargestellt, so zeigte sich, dass der Einfluss der zugeschriebenen Vertrauenswürdigkeit des Fallbeispiels in Bezug auf die Glaubwürdigkeitseinschätzung der Rezipienten steigt.
