@article{2018:mller:der_nuklea, title = {Der Nukleare Nichtverbreitungsvertrag und der neue Kernwaffenverbotsvertrag – harmonisch, kompatibel, unverträglich?}, year = {2018}, note = {The Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons is highly controversial. Nuclear weapon states and their allies call it unrealistic, ineffective and detrimental to the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty (NPT). Supporters - the large majority of United Nations members - regard its adoption as vast progress beyond the NPT and a solid basis for a non-nuclear world. A careful analysis shows that either side is overselling its point. On the one hand, the new treaty is no threat to the existing non-proliferation regime. On the other hand, it contains many weaknesses which reduce its value to symbolic politics via pronouncing a new norm while making it unfit as the operational basis for a non-nuclear world.}, journal = {S&F Sicherheit und Frieden}, pages = {61--66}, author = {Müller, Harald}, volume = {36}, number = {2} }
