note = {The antagonists of the asymmetric conflict between Western democratic
states - mostly members of the NATO - and the so called Islamic State
(IS) differ in their legal status; their organizational structure and
their strategic and tactical aims are diametrically opposed. Since the
IS is inferior in organizational, technical, personal and financial
terms to the Western democratic states, it uses asymmetric tactics to
fight the liberal Western forms of government. This article examines
selected asymmetric tactics of IS, for example the uncensored
exhibition of unfathomable, archaic violence, and analyses its
strategic, tactical and psychological functions. Additionally, the
multiple terror scenarios and the key players, for example Islamist
lone wolves and hit-teams, against Western democracies are examined.},
