Das Buch versammelt sechs sehr unterschiedliche Quellentexte über Zeit und Fortschritt (4 in osmanisch-türkischer und 2 in arabischer Sprache). Die Kommentare dazu betrachten auf unterschiedliche Weise den Wandel von Begriffen und Semantik, Ideologie und Rhetorik, welche sich im 19.–20. Jahrhundert in diesen Sprachräumen stark veränderten. In Kombination mit beigefügtem Transkript und Faksimile können die Beiträge zugleich für Lehre und Forschung genutzt werden. Abstract
The book presents six very different source texts on time and progress (four in Ottoman Turkish and two in Arabic). The accompanying commentaries examine in different ways the transformation of concepts and semantics, ideology and rhetoric, which changed significantly in these regions during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Along with the attached transcripts and facsimiles, the contributions can be used for teaching and research.
