Abstract
The articles in this book address the issues of migration, linguistic pluricentricity and linguistic accommodation from different but also complementary angles. They all focus on Spanish, although the contexts of the studies include settings within and outside the Spanish-speaking world. The papers provide new perspectives with regard to the following topics: migratory linguistics, linguistic accommodation in contact situations between speakers of different standard varieties of Spanish, linguistic prestige and the position of Spanish and its varieties in linguistic hierarchies, and the pluricentricity of Spanish and its influence on speakers' thoughts and beliefs about language.
