Zusammenfassung
Der Band enthält die erste kommentierte Ausgabe der auf Martin Heidegger bezogenen Teile der 1937 an der Harvard University entstandenen philosophischen Doktorarbeit Charles Maliks. Maliks bahnbrechender Text gilt als eine der frühesten englischsprachigen analytischen, phänomenologischen und hermeneutischen Auseinandersetzungen mit Heideggers ‚Sein und Zeit‘. Er bietet zudem sorgfältige Übersetzungen der Heideggerschen philosophischen Kernkonzepte. Die historische Bedeutung des Buches besteht außerdem darin, dass es entstand, als Malik in Freiburg bei Heidegger studierte und damit in einer kritischen Periode der Entwicklung von dessen Denken und Praxis. Diese Aspekte werden darüber hinaus durch Maliks eigene Interpretation von ‚Sein und Zeit‘ bereichert und zeigen jene theologischen Perspektiven auf, die wiederum seine eigene Rolle als moderner libanesischer christlicher Denker unterstreichen.
