Der erste Supplementband zur dreiteiligen Publikation aus dem Forschungsprojekt „Ottoman Cyprus“ beinhaltet die Edition von sieben Registern, in denen die Bevölkerung Nikosias während der turbulenten Jahre 1825–1833 erfasst wird. In diesem Zeitraum fand das erschütternde Geschehen der griechischen Revolution von 1821 seine Fortsetzung. Die Register spiegeln die geschichtlichen Ereignisse wider und bieten wertvolles Studienmaterial für jene, die sich für bisher unerforschte Themenfelder in der Geschichte Zyperns interessieren.
Abstract
The book is a product of the “Ottoman Cyprus” Research Project, which was launched in 2010 as part of the Programm of Ottoman Studies at the Institute of Historical Research (National Hellenic Research Foundation). The priority and main concern is to publish archival material and original studies which deal with topics from the Ottoman period on the island. Volume II1 concludes the edition of seven registers of the population of Nicosia during the turbulent years 1825-1833, a harrowing continuation of the events of the Greek Revolution of 1821. The contents reflect the historical events of that time and in addition constitute a beneficial field for studying a variety of topics with the valuable material they offer.
