Das Buch untersucht die Auswirkungen der Politik der EU auf nationale politische Prozesse und trägt so zu unserem Verständnis der Europäisierung bei. Der Fokus liegt bei politischen Entscheiden zur Schaffung des Binnenmarktes, welche die europäische Integration seit Beginn der 1990er Jahren dominieren. Fallstudien zur Liberalisierung des Strommarkts und zur Kartellgesetzgebung in Belgien und in der Schweiz zeigen auf, wie nationale Akteure die europäische Politik nutzen und wie sich dies auf ihre Präferenzen und ihren Einfluss auswirkt. Die Folge davon ist, dass traditionelle korporatistische Verhandlungsarrangements geschwächt werden, in Belgien wie auch im Nicht-Mitgliedstaat Schweiz.
Abstract
This book contributes to our understanding of the domestic consequences of European integration by analysing its impact on policy-making patterns. It thereby focuses on market-making policies, which predominate European integration since the creation of the internal market in the 1990s. Selected case studies on policy processes aiming at liberalising the electricity market and reforming the competition law in Belgium and Switzerland show how domestic actors use these European policies in the subsequent domestic reforms and how this affects their preferences and influence. As a consequence, traditional policy concertation is weakened, both in Belgium and in non-member state Switzerland.
