Zusammenfassung
Sexismus, Rassismus und Kapitalismus als über Identitäten verwoben zu verstehen – das ist der Ansatz des Buches „Der homo oeconomicus und das Andere“: Das Subjekt der Wirtschaftstheorie wird als Ausdruck einer Gouvernementalität begriffen, welche sich zwischen verschiedenen Herrschaftsverhältnissen herausgebildet hat, und welche Verhaltensmuster vorschreibt, die einige Identitäten begünstigt, letztlich jedoch alle Subjekte „unterwirft“.
Die Autorin untersucht als Ökonomin und als Historikerin, wie der homo oeconomicus als Fundament der heutigen Wirtschaftstheorie nicht nur das Stereotyp des weißen, männlichen Bürgers abbildet, sondern wie dieser und alle anderen sich in der Moderne herausbildenden Identitäten in Relation zu ihm – und damit zueinander – entstanden.
Wesentlich geht es der Autorin weiterhin darum, die bestehende Trennung zwischen historisch-materialistischen als auch postkolonialen und feministischen Ansätzen zu überwinden. Sie skizziert eine subjektfundierte Hegemonietheorie, wofür sie insbesondere auf Antonio Gramsci, Stuart Hall, Ernesto Laclau und Chantal Mouffe sowie Judith Butler aufbaut. Das Buch schließt mit Überlegungen für emanzipatorische Politik.
