The Relational Triangle of Black Lives, Geography, and Democracy in the U.S.
Zusammenfassung
In den USA demokratische Stabilität und die Einhaltung von Menschenrechten zu wahren, wird im Angesicht von aktuellen Krisen zu einer Herausforderung. Um dieser gerecht zu werden, untersucht Leo Kempe den Einfluss von Ethnie und Lebensraum auf den Status der Demokratie. Im Kontext der Black Lives Matter-Bewegung beleuchtet er am Beispiel von Washington D.C. und Minneapolis, Minnesota, wie in US-Nachbarschaften die Diskriminierung von Afroamerikanern zur Destabilisierung des demokratischen Systems führt. Seine Analyse gibt Aufschlüsse über die Zusammenhänge von den Lebensumständen der Afroamerikaner:innen, Geografie und Demokratie in den USA. Denn vorherrschende Stereotype, Verfremdung und Ausschluss führen zu starker gesellschaftlicher Ungleichheit.
