Zusammenfassung
Bei Wahlen seine Stimme abzugeben gilt in Deutschland und vielen anderen Ländern als Pflicht eines jeden Bürgers, als eine ungeschriebene Norm. Der Ursprung dieser sogenannten „Wahlnorm“ und wie sich diese gegebenenfalls noch verstärken ließe, sind jedoch noch weitgehend unerforscht. Yvonne Lüdecke schließt diese Forschungslücke, indem sie das Konzept des Sozialkapitals von Robert D. Putnam auf die Wahlnorm anwendet. Unter dem Begriff des Sozialkapitals werden Mitgliedschaften in Vereinen, das Vertrauen in andere Menschen und die Selbstverpflichtung Hilfe zu leisten, ohne eine Gegenleistung zu erwarten, zusammengefasst. Ist das Sozialkapital in der Lage, die Wahlnorm zusätzlich zu verstärken und die Bürger zur Stimmabgabe zu bewegen? Lässt sich die Wahlnorm tatsächlich nur durch zwischenmenschliche Kontakte und gemeinschaftliches Miteinander aufrechterhalten? Die Autorin beleuchtet diese Fragen und nähert sich so auch dem Charakter der Wahlnorm.
