Abstract
Volume 2 contains an anthology of central texts of German Romantic medicine and idealistic philosophy of nature for direct engagement with the presented sources in their historical and contemporary significance. The texts selected by Dietrich von Engelhardt illustrate the world of Romantic medicine around 1800 in theory and practice, diagnostics and therapy of the various medical disciplines, in the relationship between doctor and patient, in relation to philosophy, the humanities, the arts as well as in the horizon of historical and future development. The philosophers of nature Kant, Schelling and Hegel and, above all, Romantic physicians, including Carus, Kerner, Oken, Schubert, Heinroth, Ringseis and Kieser, are featured.
