Der Blick voraus auf die Olympischen Sommerspiele 2024 in Paris bietet eine willkommene Gelegenheit, erstmals seit langer Zeit eine Bilanz aktueller wie historischer Strukturen und Trends, Phänomene und Praktiken, Beziehungen und Transfers des Sportgeschehens in Deutschland und Frankreich zu ziehen. Der STADION-Sonderband zielt darauf, ein thematisch und disziplinär breites und konsequent transnational ausgerichtetes Sport-Panorama für das lange 20. Jahrhundert zu präsentieren. "Sport | Frankreich | Deutschland" unterstreicht damit die Innovationskraft einer Sportgeschichte, die keine Siege, Rekorde und Titel in den Fokus rückt, sondern Sport als ein allumfassendes Gesellschaftsphänomen mit hohem Erkenntniswert für die politischen und gesellschaftlichen Verhältnisse im Wandel der Zeiten versteht.
Abstract
Looking ahead to the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris offers a welcome opportunity to take stock of current and historical structures and trends, phenomena and practices, relationships and transfers of sporting events in Germany and France for the first time in a long time. The STADION special volume aims to present a thematically and disciplinary broad and consistently transnationally oriented sports panorama for the long 20th century. “Sport | France | Germany” thus underlines the innovative power of a sports history that does not focus on victories, records and titles, but rather understands sport as an all-encompassing social phenomenon with a high cognitive value for political and social conditions through the ages.
